In this lesson I will teach you the properties of logarithms. This is an extremely important lesson as the skills you learn here will be needed for the rest of the chapter. Logarithms are one of the most powerful tools in mathematics and they have a few key properties. The reason we need these log properties is so we can rewrite a log expression or equation. Actually we will be making the log expressions/equations longer (we call this expanding) or smaller (we call this condensing). The reason we expand or condense log expressions is so we can simplify and or solve log equations. Also we will learn a property called the power rule which is critical in our ability to solve exponential and log equations. Please ensure you take well organized notes on these properties as we will be using them often in the remaining log lessons.
