In this lesson I will teach you how to solve a logarithmic equation. Everything we have learned in the chapter will now come together so we can solve logarithmic and exponential equations. Remember the goal of mathematics is practical application in problem solving- and as we have been learning logarithms model many real life problems. The main concept I want to stress in the lesson is when you want to solve a log equation you will write the equation as an exponential function. Likewise when you solve exponential equations you will use logarithms. The reason we use exponents for logs equations and logs for exponential equations is because logarithmic and exponential functions are inverses of each other. As you study the lessons on log and exponential equations this will become very clear. Of course I can’t stress the importance of practicing as you will need to do a lot of problems to really master this topic.
