Pythagorean Theorem Example 1

Here is an example of how to use the Pythagorean Theorem.  Remember to read the lesson on this topic.

Basic steps to follow:

1. First the Pythagorean Theorem only applies to right triangles; make sure that one of the angles of the triangles = 90 degrees
2. Next plug in your a, b and c values into formula; note: the “c” variable always represents the hypotenuse (the longest side) of the triangle
3. Simplify the equation to find the length of the missing side
