Graphing Absolute Value Functions

Graphing Absolute Value Functions is an important skill to master in algebra. The key is to remember that each graph has a V shape and the V starts from a point called the vertex.  Also the V shape can be upside down- see below to determine how to identify all the characteristics of an absolute value graph.

Key concepts to remember:

* absolute value is the distance a number is from zero
* absolute value equations always have two solutions
* we use compound inequalities to solve absolute value inequalities

some key topics that involve graphing absolute value functions:

* vertex
* table of values
* transformations of graphs
* absolute value equations
